Mission Statement
The purpose of the School Counseling Program at Petersburg High School is to assist students with their academic/learning development, career development/life planning, personal/social development, and global citizenship development to insure that every student becomes a socially and emotionally adjusted member of society. The school counselors will work with students, faculty, parents, and the community to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning for all students. The school counselors will act as advocates for all students to insure that they receive a balanced quality education that prepares them to be productive members of their community.
Petersburg High School’s School Counseling Mission Statement has been adapted from West Virginia Department of Education School Counseling Mission statement, the Mission statement of the American School Counseling Association, and the West Virginia School Counselor Performance Standards. |
Philosophy
VisionThe vision for the School Counselors at Petersburg High School aligns with the vision of all counselors in West Virginia, “that the training, support, skills, and knowledge that they provide will assist all West Virginia students to reach their fullest potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others.” The school counselors will address needs and concerns specific to current Petersburg High School students to assist all students in reaching their highest potential and becoming healthy and contributing members of society. |
